Who Can Get Breast Reduction Surgery?

Women with large breasts can suffer from both physical and emotional problems. The weight of the breasts can cause back pain, posture issues, and difficulty standing for long periods of time. In addition, some women say that the psychological issues that can come with having large breasts are detrimental to their mental health.

For these reasons, some women seek breast reduction surgery, also known as "reduction mammoplasty". Dr. Sadeghi offers a combined breast lift and reduction to ensure that the final results are natural, of the desired size, and properly placed on the chest.

The Breast Reduction Procedure

Breast reduction is performed under general anesthesia. Dr. Sadeghi will make one or more incisions to remove excess breast tissue and reshape the breast. The breast is then held in place with sutures.

If breast reduction is performed in conjunction with a breast lift, Dr. Sadeghi will reposition the breast(s) to a natural height on the chest before closing the incisions.

Risks of Breast Reduction

Along with general surgical risks, including the risk of bleeding, infection, or scarring, women who undergo breast reduction surgery may run the risk of complications including partial loss of sensation in the nipples, minor asymmetry, and breastfeeding problems.

However, Dr. Sadeghi specializes in breast procedures, including augmentation, reduction, and lifts. He encourages you to get in touch for your one-on-one consultation. You can also browse before and after photos of satisfied breast reduction patients.

Recovering From Your Breast Reduction

Most patients experience pain and soreness for two to three days following their breast reduction. Swelling and bruising are also normal results, as are incision scars that fade over time.

Dr. Sadeghi will prescribe medication to ease your discomfort. In general, you should be able to return to work about one week following your surgery; over the following six weeks, you'll gradually be able to resume no-impact lower and upper body exercises.
