Travel

Travel to New Orleans for your breast reconstruction or cosmetic surgery. We routinely cater to patients traveling to New Orleans for breast reconstruction or cosmetic surgery. We will be happy to assist you in making any travel and lodging arrangements required to make your stay as easy and pleasurable as possible. Several accommodation options are available and are listed below.

We do ask that patients coming from out-of-state arrive at least 24 hours before their scheduled surgery. Prolonged immobility from a flight or a long drive increases the risk of a blood clot after surgery. This risk goes away if patients allow at least 24 hours between the trip and the surgery.

The Aesthetic & Reconstructive Breast Center is thrilled to be able to offer breast reconstruction patients assistance with travel and accommodation expenses through the following programs:

Flight Assistance

Angel Flight is a nonprofit organization created by a group of pilots who will arrange free air transportation for any legitimate, charitable, medically related need. This service is available to individuals and health care organizations. They will also arrange transportation for those people who are financially distressed, or who are in a time-critical, non-emergent situation due to their medical condition. For more information regarding eligibility requirements, please visit angelflight.com, or call (918) 749-8992. Please click here to locate air transportation assistance programs in your state.

National Patient Travel Center is a nonprofit organization that provides information about all forms of charitable, long-distance medical transportation, and offers referrals to all appropriate sources of help available in the national, charitable medical transportation network. Visit their website at patienttravel.org, or call (800) 296-1217 for more information.

Hotel Assistance

American Cancer Society (ACS) Accommodation Program: New Orleans hotels have partnered with the American Cancer Society to offer breast cancer patients accommodation at either low- or zero charge on a space-available basis. This program is for patients who receive treatment at least 50 miles from their place of residence. One caregiver is welcome to travel with the patient. At least two weeks’ advance notice is usually required. The program only applies to lodging Monday through Thursday. We encourage patients living more than 50 miles from New Orleans to call the American Cancer Society on (877) 227-1618 for more information and to take advantage of this opportunity.
